The most common WiFi problems
1.
Limited WiFi range
The most notable limitation of the pods is their limited range. A
PC Magazine's comparative test shows that the pods perform bad compared to comparable products if they are 10 meters or more away
stand each other. If you have one or more walls between the pods, then take
the speed decreases significantly at less than 10 meters.
2.
Many pods needed for a good WiFi connection
Because internet traffic travels wirelessly from one pod to another, the weak wireless connection between the pods is detrimental to your WiFi network. Telenet rightly advises that you place your first pod as close to your modem as possible. Then the wireless connection between the first pod and your modem is optimal. The problem, however, is the connection between the pods. If the distance between the pods is too great, or there is a lot of matter between the pods (walls, floor/ceiling), you will get a poor connection between those pods. Your WiFi network will then not work (properly).
Requiring many pods (1 per room) causes congestion and interference on your WiFi network. In the tests it is recommended to use 1 pod per room. You may be able to do it with less in your home. Either way, you'll need a lot of pods. The pods communicate wirelessly with each other via WiFi. The WiFi spectrum used for this cannot be used for other WiFi traffic in your home. This has a negative effect on the quality of your WiFi network.
3.
You must call Telenet to set up your smart devices
More and more smart devices are coming into the home and require WiFi (doorbell, sensors, cameras, vacuum cleaner, coffee maker, etc.). To set this up, your smart device and the device you use to set it up (e.g. your smart phone or laptop) must connect to your WiFi network on the same frequency.

However, if you use the Telenet pods, you cannot choose on which frequency your smart phone or laptop connects to the WiFi network. Your smart phone or laptop will typically connect on 5Ghz and smart devices almost always connect on 2.4 GHz.
To solve this, you have to call Telenet and ask that they also connect your laptop or smart phone on the 2.4GHz frequency. Good luck with customer service.
A separate WiFi network can be set up on the S-WiFi WiFi networks that is only active on the 2.4GHz frequency. This is very useful for setting up your smart devices.
3.
No optimization for video streams on your WiFi network
Video streams are the biggest burden on your WiFi network. Therefore, it is important to set up your WiFi network to optimize the traffic of the video streams. However, you cannot configure Telenet's pods.
Telenet and the manufacturer Plume state that their pods are very smart and their settings are continuously optimized. You cannot find out what that actually is because you have no access to the settings of your pods. So you can't look under the hood. The automatic settings of your WiFi network depend on the proper functioning of the Telenet and Plume systems.

S-WiFi optimizes any WiFi network for video streaming. In addition, the network is set based on the specific situation of each customer. The S-WiFi Cloud Controller provides continuous control and monitoring of your WiFi network. This controller receives updates throughout the year, and the equipment of each individual WiFi network receives a controlled update twice a year.
Tips
Place enough Pods, approximately 1 per room
Do you have many devices or smart devices (IoT) that use WiFi? Then consider installing a WiFi network that you can manage well or where you can call on a WiFi specialist. Request a free preliminary study from S-WiFi.
Is it not possible to configure smart devices (IoT devices) on your network with Telenet Pods? Get started with the Telenet Helpdesk. Ask them to connect the computer or smartphone with which you want to configure your smart device to the 2.4GHz frequency of your WiFi network.
Consider installing WiFi access points in your home that are not dependent on mutual wireless connections. It will make your WiFi network much more stable and faster.
